CARY — A Cary neighborhood is on edge after a bat in the area tested positive forrabies.

Officers picked up a bat after a family reported finding it in a house at the McGregor Downs subdivision. Animal Control officers are warning people living in the subdivision to watch out for bats and other potentially rabid animals like raccoons.

"Parents should sit down and talk to their children, and to let them know they should not approach stray animals," says animal control officer Shelly Davis.

Neighbors in the Cary subdivision are being encouraged to keep a close eye on their pets. They should also make sure their pet's shot record is up to date.
