Raleigh Woman In Hospital After Being Attacked By Two Dogs

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — A police officer had to fire his weapon several times Wednesday to end a dog attack in north Raleigh.

A pair of dogs latched on to Donice Richardson near her back patio at 1213 Mannassas Court, located near Falls of Neuse Road. Animal Control officials say the dogs look like they were boxer/pit bull mixed breeds.

When police arrived on the scene, one of the dogs charged an officer. The dog was shot and killed. The other dog was captured.

Scott McCoig, a landscaper at the condominium village Richardson lives, says he is not surprised that the incident happened.

"They growled at me in the past, and that's what I've seen before," he says. "It's pretty scary. That could have been me."

The dogs that attacked Richardson were owned by her son, Mike Jordan. The woman is in stable condition at Rex Hospital.
