The Garner PETsMART andthe SPCA of Wake Countyare holding an Animal Disaster Preparedness Day on Saturday at the Garner store.
The SPCA hopes to avoid what happened last year to the animals rescued during Hurricane Floyd. Most did not have identification and could not be returned.
"We are going to be giving away a lot of free information about how to prepare your animal in case of emergency and free medical records," says Mondy Lamb, SPCA spokeswoman. "It's also the kickoff for PETsMART's 'Give a buck, Change their luck' campaign, which raises money for homeless animals."
You can get permanent identification for your pet with a microchip ID. Regular tags will also be offered.
Rabies shots are only $5. The clinic runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
