RALEIGH, N.C. — One man died Monday morning after a shooting at a nightclub in east Raleigh.

Gunfire erupted shortly before 3 a.m. Monday in the parking lot of Club Black Tie, located at 3201 New Bern Ave., police said.

Shirley Heart, who was at the nightclub, said she heard a woman arguing with a group of people.

"I just heard a girl arguing about she wanted some people out of her car," Heart said. "After we got out from the backside of the parking lot, we heard gunshots."

Officers conducting parking enforcement on Milburnie Road, which runs beside the club, found two wounded men behind the club, police said.

Authorities said Tyrone Robert Convington was taken to WakeMed, where he later died. A second man, Kurtis Michael Richard LeDue, was treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police closed Milburnie Road,  while they conducted their investigation early Monday.

Members of the Raleigh Fire Department tried to get inside of a car parked outside of the club. They were also going on the roof of the building. It is not known if they are a part of the ongoing investigation.

Officers have responded to or initiated calls in the 3200 block of New Bern Avenue 409 times since January 2006, police said. City Councilor Philip Isley, who is a member of the city's law and public safety committee, said he plans to bring up prior incidents involving the club at a July 10 meeting.

No arrests have been made in the case, and police said they don't yet know a motive for the shooting.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Raleigh Police Department's Detective Division at 919-890-3555.
