RALEIGH — If you are thinking about making barbecued chicken for Sunday dinner, check the label. It might not be safe to eat.
The Agriculture Department has ordered a recall of nearly four tons of barbecued chicken made by House of Raeford Farms.
The chicken may contain a bacteria that can cause listeria, an uncommon but sometimes fatal disease.
The chicken with packaging date codes 237, 241, 242, 258 and 263 is being recalled.
There have been no reports of illness associated with the chicken.
