Shots Fired At High School Football Game

Gunfire in the stands of Chapel Hill High School's football stadium caused fans to evacuate during a homecoming game Friday night.(WRAL-TV5 News)
CHAPEL HILL — Authorities say gunshots were fired during the game between Chapel Hill High School and Jordan High School, sending players and spectators into a panic.

Two people were injured Friday when the crowd, estimated at 3,300, ran from the stadium. One person was knocked unconscious while another person received cuts and bruises.

A 12-year-old girl received an abrasive wound from some kind of projectile. There have been no arrests.

The game, part of Chapel Hill High's homecoming celebration, was suspended with 1:22 remaining in the third quarter with Chapel Hill leading 14-7. Chapel Hill High's homecoming dance was called off.

Officials will decide on Monday what to do about the game. From staff and wire reports
