Durham Development Project Continues Search for Tenants

DURHAM — There is new life for the American Tobacco Warehouse renovation project in downtown Durham.

Capitol Broadcasting, WRAL's parent company, was awarded an extension in its search for tenants for the project. The deadline was set to expire October 9, but the new deadline extends into 2001.

"We have full confidence that this project is going to happen," says Peter Anlyan with Capitol Broadcasting Real Estate. "It's a very big project. We're asking some companies to make some big commitments, and it just takes time."

So far,Duke Universityis the only major tenant to sign a lease agreement.

Durhamcityandcountygovernments have already approved money for parking decks to support the proposed offices, shops and restaurants.
