RALEIGH — The monster movie theaters have squashed another competitor in the Triangle.

The Pleasant Valley Promenade 7 is the latest nationally-owned theater to say goodbye to the Triangle. The north Raleigh theater will close after Thursday's showings.

"It's sad that it's closing down," says moviegoer Carl Wilson. "My friends used to live across the street and used to work here everyday. We were avid moviegoers."

More modern movie theaters appear to have taken over the Triangle. Lavish lobbies, stadium-style seating and up to 20 screens seem to sway moviegoers.
