Posted Updated

HOLLY SPRINGS — Tests indicate the water in Holly Springs is safe to drink again, prompting town leaders to lift the boil-water alert.

The Wake County town asked residents Thursday to boil their water before using it. Preliminary tests at the time indicated the presence of fecal coliform bacteria.

Results from further testing arrived Saturday, showing the water was safe to drink.

WRAL looks at the problems of quantity and quality of the state's water supply in a documentary, "When the Well Runs Dry." The special airs Monday at 7 p.m. on WRAL-TV5.
