Triangle Krispy Kreme Goes on 3-Week Hiatus

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — Bad news for Krispy Kreme fans -- at least temporarily. You will have to live without your fix of hot doughnuts for a few weeks.

Sunday night, the only Krispy Kreme store in the Triangle shut its doors for renovations.

The landmark doughnut shop, located at the corner of Person and Peace streets in Raleigh, will be closed for three weeks.

The new store will be bigger and better, but some folks say the wait will not be easy.

The store is scheduled to reopen October 2.

You can always buy Krispy Kreme's at the grocery store but, of course, they will not be hot.

Krispy Kreme doughnuts, which have taken the country by sugar-coated storm, originated decades ago in Winston-Salem.
