The lawsuit filed yesterday seeks to stop the state Board of Elections from printing ballots naming Pat Buchanan as the Reform Party's presidential candidate.
State party vice chairman Dot Drew of Hendersonville says John Hagelin, not Buchanan, is the candidate chosen by the state party's executive committee.
Election board deputy director Johnnie McLean says the lawsuit is another action that could delay printing of ballots for the November election.
The board already is awaiting a ruling on an appeal by Green Party candidate Ralph Nader, who was barred from the ballot because he didn't have enough signatures on nominating petitions.
