Palm Handheld Computers Potential Virus Targets

Posted Updated

WASHINGTON (AP) — Palm computers are now targets of a destructive computer virus.

It's a so-called ``Trojan horse'' program that enters the handheld computers in the guise of useful software. But the virus will delete all the programs on Palm or Visor handheld, which both use the same Palm operating system.

The virus is disguised as a variant of the the popular Liberty program, which allows the tiny computers to play games made for the Nintendo GameBoy.

Security experts warn the destructive program is being distributed on the Internet as Liberty Crack 1.1. Users download the software thinking they're getting a free version of the game system.

Several anti-virus companies are now offering software that detects and removes the program
