SMITHFIELD — One man is dead after an overnight work accident in Smithfield.
It happened about 2 a.m. Friday at the Channel Master plant on Industrial Drive. Police say a worker was caught in a machine press at the plant.
The identity of the worker is being withheld until relatives are notified.
He was dead when emergency crews arrived. Two other workers who saw the accident had to be treated for what police call anxiety-related issues.
The plant and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating. The plant makes home satellite dishes.
