2 Men Shot in Johnston County

RAINES CROSSROAD — Sunday afternoon the Johnston County Sheriff's Office received a call about a shooting. When they arrived at the scene, two men were found. Each had been shot.

The shooting occurred at 2820 Raines Crossroads Road, outside Pine Level.

Deputies are looking for an acquaintance, 24-year-old Kurt Ley. Arrest warrants have been issued for two counts of attempted murder and three counts of kidnapping.

Ley was seen leaving in a blue S10 Blazer or a GMC Jimmy.

Officers say both victims are in their late 20s. One was shot in the abdomen. The other in the chest and arms.

Initially, the men were taken to Johnston Memorial Hospital. From there, one was flown to UNC Hospitals. The other was transported to Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville.

Both were critically injured.

Their names not being released yet.

The motive for the shooting is unclear.
