Posted Updated

DURHAM — Durham Police say they have broken an interstate theft ring wide open.

A routine search provided information that led investigators to a house in Durham. Inside, they found $100,000 in stolen merchandise. They say most of it came from local businesses.

"This is just the beginning. We are hoping this could lead to larger seizures of stolen merchandise, further arrests and hopefully further convictions," says investigator Ben Parrish.

So far, investigators arrested three people in connection with the thefts.

Anyone who may have items stolen can call919-560-1020.

Police officials say be prepared to have the item's serial number or other identification available.
