One Dead, Three Injured in Durham Shooting

DURHAM — Police are searching for suspects in a deadly multiple shooting that took place in Durham early Monday morning.

Authorities say four people were shot at the Caroco service station on North Alston Avenue, between Liberty and Hopkins Streets around 2:00 a.m.

Anthony Peaks, 39, of Durham, was killed.

Police say Peaks and his wife, Kristi, were standing outside the service station, with Joseph Jamar Pipkin and Tyrone Lamont Merrill, all of Durham, when someone fired into the group.

Peaks was pronounced dead at Duke Hospital. His wife was shot in the right ankle. Pipkin and Merrill sustained superficial gun wounds.
