Sharpton, King Urge Community To Celebrate Anniversary of March on Washington
Posted — UpdatedThe Reverend Al Sharpton and Martin Luther King III visited the WRAL studios Thursday. They are touring the South and urging church and community groups to commemorate the 37th anniversary of the March on Washington.
Sharpton says it is important that people in the area take part.
"Raleigh is a stop on this long tour. It's an important stop because there have been problems in this area and it needs to be addressed," Sharpton says. "We would hope that many of the churches and civil rights groups will join us as we redeem the dream at the Lincoln Memorial on August 26."
Sharpton and King attended a rally Thursday night at the St Paul's AME Church. -->
