Woman Killed by Car Fleeing Police

Hear Lamm inau A woman was killed and her children injured after their car was hit by another car driven by a man fleeing police.

Shiquita Joyner (above left), 23, died at the scene after the vehicle she was driving was hit by a car allegedly driven by Anthony Jenkins (above right) on Wednesday.

Brianna Joyner (right in center photo above), 3, was in serious condition Thursday at Children's Hospital of Eastern North Carolina in Greenville. Jamichael Joyner (left in center photo above), 2, was in fair condition there.

Jenkins, 26, was in serious condition Thursday at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. A passenger in Jenkins' vehicle, George Lee White Jr., 22, was treated at Wilson Memorial Hospital and released Wednesday night.

Several bags of marijuana were found in the car, police said. White was charged with simple possession of marijuana and was placed under a $1,000 secured bond. He was released from jail Thursday. Drug charges are pending against Jenkins.

The state Highway Patrol is handling traffic-related charges, but no details were available Thursday.
