Emergency Planners Preparing for the Worst

In the Triangle, people are beginning to head for grocery and hardware stores to stock up on emergency supplies, such as non-perishable food.

Bobby Fletcher, a Raleigh hardware salesman, says the first call he took this morning was from a Wilmington man who inquired about generators.

Other things people should do to ride out a major storm include stocking up on batteries for flashlights and batter-powered radios or televisions, making sure there's plenty of clean water for drinking, and securing all outdoor furniture and fixtures.
