Posted Updated

RALEIGH — Activity was picking up Friday morning in the State Emergency Management office as workers tracked Hurricane Edouard and his consorts Hurricane Fran and Tropical Storm Gustav.

The emergency response team met in Raleigh to make preliminary preparations in case one of the storms hits the coast. They were watching maps, working the phones and, in general, making sure all personnel and equipment were in place and on alert.

Team member Tim Bradley says the biggest concert in fire and rescue equipment.

The emergency operations center has not been activated yet. If they do get the call, however, all activity will be monitored from the Raleigh center.
