Donations Enable Cumberland County SPCA to Stay Open

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE — After a long stretch of bad news, this week's good news at the Cumberland County SPCA is very welcome.

After making a plea for money to keep the animal shelter open, donations brought in enough money for operation through January. People also brought in more than 2,000 pounds of dog and cat food.

Most of the donations came from the Raleigh area.

The Cumberland County shelter is the only one in the area that keeps the animals it houses alive until they are adopted.

They said they will need more money to continue caring for the animals after January
