Beaches Keep Eye on Edouard

Posted Updated

NORTH TOPSAIL BEACH — Many tourists are watching along with the merchants and other residents on the coast. Some are being flexible about the possible approach of a hurricane, saying they will go home if necessary.

In places along the beach, bulldozers are at work once again. This time they're shoring up, not cleaning up. One resident said his biggest fear was that he would have to evacuate again, and not be allowed back on after the storm.

Most are hoping that never becomes an issue.

Emergency officials say they will wait and see what Edouard appears to be doing by Thursday or Friday before they make any plans.

According the the Topsail Chamber, rentals are booked solid for the weekend, and there has been no mad rush to cancel
