Area Animal Shelters Feeling Financial Bite

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE — August 14, 1996 - 12:35 p.m. EDT

The Cumberland County S.P.C.A is licking its financial wounds and may, in fact, be forced to shut its doors.

If the agency is forced to close, the only alternative for the homeless animals it shelters is death. The Wake County S.P.C.A. is also feeling a budget pinch. It is sponsoring a dance Thursday to raise money for food and other supplies.

It's being touted as "The Buster Party", and will be held at the state fairgrounds from 7 to 11 p.m.

Admission is $15. All proceeds will benefit the Wake County S.P.C.A
