Divers Continue Search for Kerr Lake Boater

KERR LAKE — June 24, 1996 - 9:20 a.m. EDT

Divers will continue the search today for the body of a Zebulon man believed to have drowned Friday at Kerr Lake.

Tony Martin, 53, of Martin Road fell out of his best friend's boat near Hibernia Point about 11 a.m. Friday. as he tried to untangle fishing lines.

His friend and the driver of the boat, Claude Weaver, also of Zebulon, tried unsuccessfully to save Martin. Martin could not swim, and he was not wearing a life vest.

The lake is about 40 feet deep in the area where the accident happened
