CARTHAGE, N.C. — A woman charged with killing her boyfriend last month died Friday, two days after detention officers found her hanging in her cell at the Moore County Jail, authorities said.

Jessica Denise White, 24, of 305 Baker Road in Cameron, was found in her cell Wednesday after trying to hang herself from a shower rod, authorities said.

White was taken to FirstHealth of the Carolinas in Pinehurst, where she died Friday afternoon after being taken off life support, authorities said.

White was arrested on May 24 after authorities found the body of 27-year-old Jonathan Elee Grice in a trash pile behind the house they shared. Authorities said Grice had been shot in the head before his body was wrapped in a car cover and dumped in the trash pile with some charred furniture and clothes.

Albert Devonte Brown, 26, of 240 Brookside Road in Pinehurst, and James Allen Hammonds, 17, also have been charged with murder in the case.

The hanging is under investigation by the Moore County Sheriff's Office and the State Bureau of Investigation.
