Restaurant Gets "A" on Inspection, Despite Vermin

RALEIGH — June 21, 1996 - 6:10 p.m. EDT

The restaurant received a grade of 90.5 which is a sanitation grade of "A".

Rick Rowe (below, left), director of environmental health in Wake County says the penalty was lessened by the fact that the machine was not working, so the maggots were not coming into direct contact with food.

Rowe said he was surprised that the report carried such a good grade, however. He said the maggots would have to have been found in a food storage area, or elsewhere in direct contact with food, for the restaurant to have recieved a lower sanitation grade.

Adcock could not be reached for comment, and the identity of the restaurant's owner was not available.

Health inspectors say they will conduct follow-up inspections at the restaurant in the next few days
