A former N.C. Central University administrator has been named chancellor of Elizabeth City State University. Mickey L. Burnim, 47, replaces Jimmy Jenkins, who resigned after 12 years as chancellor.

Burnim has served as interim chancellor since last September. He will make $110,000 in his new post.

He said he is working to patch up the institution's relationship with the community, which was upset when a white professor filed a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The professor charged Jenkins with making racist remarks at a meeting
