"We have such a high population of computer literate folks in this part of the Triangle," says Bruce Elder, senior vice president of Crescent State Bank. "It was something we felt like we needed to offer to be competitive in the marketplace."
Customers can check virtually all their account information online no matter where they are. Unique to Crescent's service is the ability to check images of actual checks and deposit slips. Any checks that clear through the system in the evening are available for viewing that night.
Crescent's Web site features a demonstration of how its online banking service works. The bank plans to grow its brick and mortar business, but most new customers sign up for online banking services. Zoggle offers teens a wide variety of topics from pop culture and music to technology and talk.
When teenagers subscribe to the Web site, they will have access to more features, including the Zoggle card, a cash card issued by MasterCard. It is prepaid so it does not require a bank account or parental permission for use.
Zoggle founders say the site is for fun and education.
