Friday is now a WRAL Weather Alert Day. Parts of Hoke, Cumberland and Sampson counties are under a level 2 risk for storms Friday afternoon and evening. The biggest threat will be damaging winds and heavy rain, but an isolated tornado can’t be ruled out in our southern counties. The storms are expected to impact these areas from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Police may be closer to  solving the mysterious death of a Fort Bragg soldier in January.

Fayetteville police say 16-year-old Marcus Cannon is under arrest and  will be charged as an adult. He faces first-degree murder, first-degree  kidnapping, and arson charges in connection with the death of Specialist  Robert Jones.

Jones was found dead in his burning car off Morganton Road in January.

Four other suspects are already in custody and police say they are  searching for a fifth suspect
