The weather was cool Tuesday night, but the Bulls' bats were hot.
The Bulls hit four home runs on their way to a 9-3 home-opening win against the Kinston Indians. And about 7,100 fans braved the cold temperatures to watch the Bulls improve their record to 4-0.
The win follows a series-opening sweep at Frederick, Md. the team whose mascot is the famous Durham Bull is ready to stomp and snort its way to more wins.
Damian Moss, a left-hander from Australia, picked up the win. He pitched five innings, allowing four hits and one run. The 19-year-old had 177 strikeouts last year for Macon, topping minor-league pitchers in strikeouts per nine innings at 10.77.
Bulls' centerfielder Andruw Jones, rated the No. 1 prospect in minor league baseball, didn't disappoint the home crowd. He hit a home run in the fourth inning. Jone hit 25 homers for Macon a year ago. On Sunday, he and Ron Wright hit their first homers as Bulls. Wright hit 32 homers for Macon last year, and Tuesday night he the first pitch in the second inning over the left-field wall.
