Speed was not a factor in the crash, which occurred when her car slid off Bahama Road near Durham County's northern border. Rowan, her brother, is in stable condition with broken ribs and collarbone, and possibly a ruptured spleen.
Jasmine Lockamy was preparing to attend Appalachian State University in Boone this fall, something she had achieved with her 1200-point SAT scores. She was also an exceedingly talented photographer.
Her Northern Durham High School classmates are devastated by her death, much as Johnston County high school students were after the March 6 automobile accidents that killed three classmates.
