North Carolina's primary comes up in May, and some Wilson residents want to make sure everyone, especially African-Americans, are registered to vote.

The NAACP sponsored a voter workshop there Saturday, with speakers urging people to spread the word about the importance of the black vote in the eastern part of the state.

Speaker Mary Peeler said, "Too many people think that their vote will not make a difference. If all of us take that idea or take that attitude, nothingwillhappen. But collectively coming together we can utilize our voting strength, which is one of the greatest strengths in the country, to make a difference."

Beginning March 15th, the NAACP will be going into communities to register voters
