Cobras Sign Former UNC Receiver Greg Harris

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — The Carolina Cobras signed former University of North Carolina wide receiver Greg Harris in preparation for their contest with the New England Sea Wolves on Friday, June 16, 7:30 p.m. at the Hartford Civic Center.

Harris will make the trip to Connecticut with the club on Thursday but is not expected to dress for the game; however, with recent injuries to WR/DB David McLeod (back) and offensive specialist Dexter Dawson (knee), he might see action sooner than expected. Both McLeod and Dawson are expected to start. In other roster moves, the Cobras also activated WR/DB Tommy Johnson from injured reserve. Johnson had missed the last three games with a pulled hamstring.

The Cobras (1-7) have been struggling of late, dropping six straight games, but look to get back on track this week at New England (5-4). Friday's game marks the first of a two-game road swing for Carolina. The Cobras are 1-3 on the road this season and have lost their last three road contests. Friday's match-up also marks only the third time this season Carolina will venture outside the Southern Division. The Cobras are 1-1 against non-Southern Division opponents this season (defeated Los Angeles 58-50 at the STAPLES Center on April 20 and lost to Milwaukee 63-16 last week at the ESA).

The game will be televised locally on WKFT-TV (Channel 40) beginning at 7:30 p.m. with Trey Bender and Mike Golic calling the game. The contest can also be heard on the Carolina Cobras Radio Network (WDTF-570 AM, Raleigh; WPCM-920 AM, Burlington; WGBR-1150 AM, Goldsboro; WCHL 1360-AM, Chapel Hill) with Gary Hahn and Tony Haynes calling the action. -COBRAS--->
