Durham Bulls Honor Long-Time Fan on His 90th Birthday

Posted Updated

DURHAM — The best birthday present for a sports fan is a victory for the home team, and that is just the gift that Raymond Williams received from theDurham BullsSunday night.

Williams has been going to Bulls games for 77 years.

He saw his first game in 1923, when he had to watch from a grassy hill outside the park because African-Americans were not allowed inside.

Despite that, Williams has witnessed a lot of baseball history in his 90 years.

The Bulls honored Williams at the game with cupcakes delivered by Wool E. Bull, while the whole crowd sang "Happy Birthday."

The Bulls beat Norfolk 3-2.
