Two-a-days Put Wolfpack Players in Motion

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — The shoulder pads are popping at N.C. State this week. The Wolfpack works through the two-a-day phase of pre-season practice, knowing there are questions that must be answered especially about team depth.

Twice a day, Pack players and coaches are working hard, not only trying to get ready for the upcoming season, but also trying to get new faces in new places. Only eight starters return from last year's team, and those eight must make sure the new guys are up to speed quickly.

"They really believe that they have the help to conquer the things that they want to conquer," explained cornerback Tony Scott.

"We've got a lot of guys, the redshirted guys, that are extremely talented and can step in and play right away," Sheldon Kee, NCSU linebacker, said.

Due to the lack of experience, the Pack is predicted to finish seventh in the conference. That does not sit well with players.

"They're going to say what they're going to say," Scott stated. "We had a 3-8 season a couple years ago. I feel like we're back, and we're ready to start."

Pack players will have to be ready. Because the second game on the schedule is Florida State.

"You don't have but that one exhibition game to kind of get your bugs ironed out," said Coach Mike O'Cain.
