Nighttime is Tee Time in Apex

Posted Updated

APEX — You're just home from work, and you want to play a little golf. You don't want to just hit balls or play nine. You want to play a full round. There is now an answer-- a lighted golf course!

For those who can't get enough golf, there's now a light at the end of the fairway. Knights Play Golf offers nocturnal hackers a chance to swing away until midnight.

"We've had a golf course full of people at all times," says golf pro Kevin Jones. "We take tee times up to a week in advance, and every single night since we've opened has been packed."

"With lights like these (pointing), I think I'd rather play at night as long as the weather is nice," explains one unidentified golfer.

Cool temperatures and convenience are definite advantages, but there is one big drawback at night. If you miss the fairway, you may never find your ball again.

"Out from under the lights, it's kind of tough," Jones says. "There is some rough out in certain areas in front. So, away from the lights, it's tough."

Knights Play is a par three course, so leave the driver at home. You'll still need your "A" game. Day or night, many golfers are still all over the greens.

Yes, golf can be cruel. At least now, there's the chance to play a little more, and more importantly, improve.
