Tar Heels Plan to Step It Up Under Torbush

Posted Updated

CHAPEL HILL — Years ago, the summer was a time to sit back, relax and dream of the upcoming season. Not anymore. The blood and sweat poured out in the heat of June, July and August translates into wins come fall.

"If you come out here and slack off right now and don't work hard, it's going to show in the season no matter what you think," says UNC linebacker Brandon Spoon. "You come out here now and work your tail off and go hard, things are going pay off for you. You'll be able to tell a big difference between the teams that work hard and don't at this time."

First year head coach Carl Torbush is not about to let this team slack off. The Tar Heels have built quite a tradition, and the players are determined to take it to an even higher level under their new head mentor.

"He has everyone's support," explains defensive end Mike Pringley. "We're just going to do our best to go out there and win ballgames for Coach Torbush. We don't know nothing else around here but winning. We're not going to start losing now. I can tell you that." You can bet that winning attitude is molded at this time of the year.
