Raleigh's newest Cougar is like all players in the USBL. Ishua Benjamin has his eyes on the NBA.
"I feel like I'm an NBA player," Benjamin says. "It's a matter of the exposure and me just showing some of the skills I didn't get to show while I was at NC State."
In his last two years with the pack, Benjamin was a ball-hawking defensive gem, but he knows he must improve his offensive game. The USBL is just the place to begin.
"In some spots, there is a lot more talent," Benjamin explains. "You have a lot more experience than a college team. There's not as much structure, but you have a lot more movement than a college game."
Several players have used the USBL as a springboard to the NBA, but if that doesn't work out, Benjamin hopes his play will earn him a pro spot overseas.
