Pinehurst Homeowners Go For the Green During U.S. Open

From the sky, you can see why these homes are prime real estate any time of the year; their backyards border one of the best golf courses in the world.

So when Nancy Oakley heard the U.S. Open was coming to town, she decided to rent out her house.

"They made me an offer I couldn't refuse," Oakley says. "Instead of going to Wal-mart three days a week, I can go four days a week."

With a view of thePinehurst Country ClubNo. 2from the lush gardens in the backyard, A New York Corporation paid top dollar to move into Oakley's home for a week.

"The view is absolutely fabulous," says realtor Kathyrn Elliot Riffle. "You are going to see holes 4, 5, and 6."

The demand for the best views has kept Riffle busy, leasing out luxury homes for a lot of green--$3,000 to $100,000 for the week.

"They want to have a beautiful home. They want it to be luxurious. They want to have the best. They want to offer their clients the best view, the best entertainment, the best that they can," Riffle says.

So you might ask: Is Nancy Oakley worried about what a bunch of corporate executives will be doing inside her beautiful home?

"I've raised 4 teenagers so nothing can scare me," Oakley says.
