Reward Offered for Information on Mother of Baby Abandoned in Cumberland County

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE — Cumberland County Authorities hope money will lead them to the mother of an abandoned baby. The Governor's Office and Crimestoppers are now offering a $6,000 reward in hopes of finding the woman.

Last month, a newborn boy was thrown from a car and found on the side of the road in Grays Creek. The baby died of trauma.

Sheriff's investigators say they have very few leads to go on.

The community took such an interest in the child that members of the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office named the baby Michael, and planned his funeral.
