Durham Double Fatal Ax 1
DURHAM, N.C. — A collision between two pickup trucks in Durham has resulted in the deaths of two people.

The accident occurred at the

7700 block of Wake Forest Highway

near the Lick Creek overpass around 9 a.m. Authorities say that 60-year-old Darnell Selma Holeman of Chapel Hill drifted left of the center line and hit a pickup driven by 33-year-old Dwight Shelton Sherron of Raleigh head-on. Both drivers died at the scene of the accident.

A passenger in Holeman's pickup, William Flowers, was briefly pinned inside the truck and was later transported to Duke Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Both directions of Wake Forest Highway were shut down because of the accident, and traffic was blocked from Southview Road to Coley Road. The road has since reopened.
