WARREN COUNTY — Live to be a 100 years old and you could become part of an exclusive club.

In Warren County, seven residents received Century Club Certificates signed by Governor Jim Hunt. The oldest honoree was Georgianna Tyre at 106 years of age.

The club members are looking forward to the big date change during the weekend so they can say they have lived during the 1800s, the 1900s and well beyond the year 2000.

"Thanks to the good Lord, I'm here and able to get on the air and go places," said 101-year-old Mary Gartrell. "It's good to be here in the land of the living and able to get around, and nobody's going to have to carry me everywhere."

TheNorth Carolina Division of Agingorganized the celebration. -->
