Wilson Police Make Arrest In Disappearance of New Jersey Woman

Posted Updated

WILSON — A man picked up by Wilson police Wednesday confessed to the disappearance of a New Jersey woman. Rodney Bullock, 20, is charged with aggravated sexual assault and burglary in the disappearance of 30-year-old Ann Yen Hsu of Collingswood, New Jersey.

Investigators say Bullock cracked after three hours of interrogation. Bullock told investigators he dumped Hsu's body in the Cooper River, which is along the Delaware River in Camden.

Authorities are using infra-red equipped helicopters, divers, dogs and underwater cameras. They have recovered the blanket that Bullock supposedly wrapped around her body before throwing her in.

A witness said Hsu was dragged out of her New Jersey apartment early Tuesday morning.

A team from the Camden County prosecutor's office arrived in Wilson around 2 p.m. Wednesday. They drove through the night after hearing about a breakthrough in their high-profile case.

Within a hour of arriving, the team checked out a black 1998 Honda Civic with tags that match those of Hsu's car. Investigators did not find any signs of a struggle in her car.

Wilson police pulled over Bullock in Hsu's car around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday near the intersection of I-95 and Highway 264. Police believe Bullock may have been heading to Fayetteville, where he has relatives.

"Due to his condition and the way he was driving erratically, he was driving, weaving and appeared to be lost," said Capt. Carlton Turnage of the Wilson Police Department. "The tags were out of state, and the officer was concerned that he didn't know where he was going."

When police ran a check on the car, the tags came back to them a missing person or stolen car.

Bullock is also charged with possession of a stolen vehicle. He is currently being held on investigative detention in the Wilson County Jail.
