Food Bank Collects Food at Local Krogers

Organizers call the effortStuff the Bus. Saturday, people dropped off non-perishable food items on buses inKrogerparking lots in Raleigh and Durham.

Organizers say every day 375,000 people, 40 percent of whom are children, go hungry.

During the summer, the supply at the food bank is low.

"We have wonderful opportunities at Thanksgiving and Christmas when everybody is eating," says Food Bank Director Anne Porter. "In the summer months, the need is still there."

If you did not get a chance to "Stuff the Bus," they will still be in Raleigh at the Kroger on Six Forks Road and the one on Creedmoor Road until 8 p.m. Saturday.

In Durham, you can stop by the Kroger stores in the Festival Shopping Center on Hillsborough Road and the store in South Pointe Crossing on Highway 54.
