The manager of Home Depot on Northpoint Drive was leaving the store Monday night when a group of masked men assaulted him, threw him into his own truck and drove to a wooded area.
The group later handcuffed and beat the manager. They were trying to get information about store security and where the money was kept in the store.
Three hours later, the group drove the victim back to the Home Depot and loaded him into one of the trailers at the store. The men then tied up the manager and fired one bullet through both of his hands. They then locked the door and left him bleeding inside.
Major Dwight Pettiford of the Durham Police Department says this is one of the most unusual cases the city has seen in a long time.
"I can't remember when we have had a store manager, bound and interrogated and had shots fired on him recently in our time."
The victim has been released from Durham Regional Hospital. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Police are searching for three to four suspects. The suspects did not rob the store but they did take the victim's wallet and truck.
