RALEIGH — A Raleigh railroad crossing that has been the scene of a number of fatalities will close.
Four people have died and others have been injured at the crossing, which is located at the intersection of Bashford and Hillsborough Streets.
A memorial stands as a sobering reminder near the tracks.
The state plans to open a new access road off NC Highway 54 to replace the crossing.
The project could take up to a year.
