Volunteers are raising money to purchase body armors for Cumberland County police dogs by selling barbecue dinners.
The body armor will cost a little more than $500, so volunteers want to sell plenty of barbecue dinners.
Grace Allen, who organized the dog armor project, thought it was just a simple idea.
"I looked around and nobody was doing anything to protect the ones who would give their lives for us," Allen said.
The Cumberland County Sheriff's department took advantage of the opportunity to show off a handful of the 20 dogs that deputies work with on a daily basis.
The lunch special costs $6.50 and will continue on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Cumberland County Civic Center.
