Flim-Flam Artists Deceive Franklin County Woman

Ressie Boyd was sitting in her house watching TV when she heard a knock at her door.

"The man said he was doing repair work for elderly people," Boyd says. "I didn't think anything about it because he was so nice."

Boyd allowed the man to enter her house for a quick look. The man then asked her if he could survey the outside of her house. While they were outside, a second man entered her house.

"While we were in the back, the other man got out and went through my house," Boyd says. "After they left, I had something like a warning tell me that I should check my pocketbook. It makes me so mad that I could chew nails."

Franklin County Sheriff Robert Redmond says every spring and fall, flim-flam artists are looking for senior citizens.

"Senior citizens are the ones that are home during the day," Redmond says. "There are a lot of times in the spring when they are out in the yard. They are visible targets for these people to descend on."

The two men got away before deputies could arrive.
