Posted Updated

RALEIGH — Saturday's weather put an early end to the celebration at theNorth Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences.

Museum officials estimate about 35,000 people attended the gala that began Friday at 5 p.m.

The grand opening was slated to come to an end 5 p.m. Saturday, but around 4:30 p.m., people were taken inside away from the glass windows, due to windy weather conditions.

The people stayed in the museum for about a half hour, and were finally allowed to leave when museum officials got an all-clear from Raleigh police. -->
