DURHAM — There are people walking around the clock in Durham, all in the fight against cancer.

The third annualRelay for Lifeis being held at Githens Middle School. The goal this year is to raise $50,000 for research and create more awareness for cancer prevention.

The track will be lighted with luminaries, and survivors will kick off the relay by walking the first lap.

"We're here to walk for our survivors," says cancer survivor Sneha Shah. "We're here to create more of them because we're up to over 50 percent survivorship, but we still have a long way to go."

Participants will walk throughout the night taking part in various events until 3 p.m. Saturday.
